“Stop swimming in a swimming pool when you were meant to swim in an ocean”– Sianne C
We all have choices in life. It’s just a matter of what choices we make. For a very long time, I’ve sat in my room, thinking about the next steps, thinking about snatching any opportunity that comes my way etc. But when it came to acting on the next steps that I thought about, I didn’t. When it came to grabbing an opportunity that was right in front of me, I didn’t. I made that choice not to.
You’re probably reading this and thinking “why did she not make those choices?” or “That’s so silly – why miss such opportunities?” The answer was: FEAR. Simply because of fear, I chose to let the power of fear cost me wonderful opportunities. I chose to let the power of fear cost me acting on the plans I had set out for myself. *Shakes my damn head*

What does fear mean or stand for? Fear can mean a number of different things. For instance, fear can mean: Face Everything and Respond, Feeling Excited and Ready, False Expectations About Reality, False Experiences Appearing Real, Face Everything and Relax etc.
If I am being totally honest, I was extremely nervous and scared about creating a blog. I didn’t have a clue about the websites I could use or how to blog. I didn’t have much faith that this blog and my other social media pages will be good enough for the public to read. I was so ashamed because I had no idea how and where to start. I was (still am) figuring out how to create new pages, organise myself and create new posts and content. I feared the layout and presentation of my blog and the possibility of it being dull and unattractive. I just didn’t want to make a mistake. I almost made the choice to give up and forget about the idea of blogging and creating a platform and a community from scratch, where I can reach, interact and connect with different people from all over the world. But rather than allow the power of fear to consume me, I chose to push through, reach out, ask for help and tips and create a website that would be most appropriate to start my new blog.
Anne Lamott, author of ‘writing we love’, mentioned that giving yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft” is OK. What I learnt from reading that was that sometimes we just need to start writing- don’t overthink it too much and worry about editing it later. Starting off small and slow is so important because when it comes to taking action, growing and progressing, a small start is necessary. When you plant a seed, it grows!
What is the purpose of this post!?
We all have a choice to do what we want in life, what we think, what we eat and drink, what we say to ourselves and to others and how we react etc. We All Have Choices, and we can choose wisely or poorly. Are you going to decide to give up or are you going to choose to fight through, to keep pushing and aspiring to become better than you were yesterday? At the end of the day, we will be the ones to reap the consequences of those choices.
I choose to love, grow, learn, teach and inspire many people around me, starting from this blog and by being transparent!
What are YOU choosing?
